New Plymouth Walking Advocacy Group (WAG)

New Plymouth Walking Advocacy Group is a volunteer group formed in June 2010 that advocates for the development, enhancement and maintenance of walking-friendly infrastructure and culture.

Our Vision

More people walking more often!

Our Mission

  • To promote the concept of "Living Streets" where walking is the preferred form of transport for short trips within 3kms of our destination;
  • to reclaim the streets for people rather than cars; to provide a voice for walkers at policy level and ensure pedestrians are considered in any current and future urban development plans and initiatives;
  • to support other groups that encourage sustainable transport, including the use of public transport.
